Our Anti Racist Statement
As part of our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, to complement our EDI policy and associated priorities and action plans, work has been undertaken to create an anti-racist statement. There has been input from staff, Staff Forum, students, the College Leadership Team and Governors to produce the following statement:
‘Anti-racism is an active and conscious effort to work against all aspects of overt and systematic racism; racism is institutionalised across our society, based on shared history, and it is our collective responsibility to set things right.
We stand against racism in all its forms. Any form of discrimination is opposed to our values wherever it takes place. We are committed to call it out, call it what it is and reject in all its forms.
As a College Group, we seek to create a sense of belonging and celebrate diversity as an inclusive organisation.’
This anti-racism statement has been discussed and endorsed by the Group Leadership Team and the Governing Body.
Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed and shared their views and perspectives as the iterative process to create this statement has taken place. It is important now that this is not just a form on words on a page or website, it is alive and part of our way of working together as a College community.
The commitment to this statement will be reviewed through the EDI team and implementation is integrated into clear anti-racism actions as part of our EDI commitment.
