9 December 2025

Chichester College Group Student Union has been presented with an award for its work over the last 19 years with the Safe Drive Stay Alive partnership.

The award was presented at the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service annual Recognition and Achievement Awards Ceremony at Arundel Castle

Safe Drive Stay Alive is a partnership with the police, ambulance service and NHS aimed at new and learner drivers aged 17-24 years old to influence driver behaviour and attitude.

Delivered annually to 34 sixth forms and colleges, the programme and shows run between 1 November and 31 March each year and reach approximately 8,000 students.

The award was presented last month at the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service annual Recognition and Achievement Awards Ceremony at Arundel Castle.

The awards honour exceptional individuals and teams for their dedication, bravery, and service to the community.

Attending the ceremony with the long service award recipients, the award was presented to college staff by the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Lady Emma Barnard. Guests included, the High Sheriff of West Sussex Dr Tim Fooks and West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Support, Fire and Rescue, Duncan Crow.

Lisa Humphries, Associate Principal of Students and Customers, said: “We are truly honoured to receive the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Community and Partnership Award.

“Hosting  Safe Drive Stay Alive over the last 19 years has been an incredibly meaningful experience for thousands of CCG students.

“The show delivers a powerful and emotional message about road safety, using real-life stories to inspire young people to make safer choices behind the wheel.

“Being recognised for our role in supporting this vital initiative is a privilege, and we remain committed to working in partnership to keep our community safe.

“It was also a wonderful experience to receive the award at the historic Arundel Castle, making the occasion even more special.”
